Visitors are drawn to Africa by its iconic wildlife, but your experience may be incomplete, unless you also learn about its remarkable historical and cultural heritage.
Guests of Africa Albida Tourism’s properties in Victoria Falls - Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, Victoria Falls Safari Club, Victoria Fall Safari Suites and Lokuthula Lodges – may now benefit from the introduction of the captivating “Life of David Livingstone” talk.
This 45-minute presentation on the most famous explorer of the 19th century is held at 9.30am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on a deck in front of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, with a panoramic view, which includes a wildlife-rich waterhole and the African bush.
An expert historian will take you on a spell-binding journey into Africa’s past, bringing alive one of the continent’s most compelling stories – The Life of David Livingstone.
Born into poverty in Glasgow in 1813, he would become “the greatest man of his generation”, during his 30 years in Africa, traversing more than 45,000km of uncharted territory.
From becoming the first European to see the Victoria Falls in 1855, and subsequently introduce this natural wonder to the world, to closing the slave markets of East Africa, his is one of the most remarkable stories in the continent’s recent history.
For Victoria Falls Safari Club guests the Life of David Livingstone is a complimentary activity, while others may experience it for US$12. Agents are encouraged to include it in their packages, and groups can be accommodated at different time slots, to suit their itineraries.
