From Saruni (www.saruni.com)
Here is the message we sent to our suppliers (it can be quoted):
Due to the VAT Act on Park/Conservancy fees newly introduced by the Kenya Government, since the 2nd September 2013 the conservancy fees have been taxed with an additional 16% for VAT. It is therefore inevitable that we increase the conservancy fees to all Saruni properties. I'm sure that this comes as an unpleasant surprise, and we have waited to see if the government was going to grant a delay in the implementation of this law, but this has not happened and like all the other Kenyan properties now we have to act accordingly.
In a gesture of good will to our business partners, we have decided to absorb the cost for all bookings existing in our system that will be confirmed and paid for in full before the 14th September. On the 15th September, all unpaid bookings, provisional bookings and new bookings will have the conservation fees charged with the additional 16% VAT.

We appreciate your understanding. Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any queries.
