Zambezi Safaris - Africa updates

Bird heaven

In preparation for the Birdfair at Rutland later this month (19-21 August), the team have been all a twitter with ideas for some of the best birding trips in Africa.

We're particularly excited about a new itinerary featuring Madagascar's 'Vanga Triangle', taking in the country's three chief climatic zones.   We've also revised perennial favourites such as the Lower Zambezi, great for summer migrants as well as resident Pel's owls, and Zambia's Luangwa in the green season.

Not to mention two exceptional offbeat trips with some of our favourite guides:

Gorongosa National Park and Mozambique's beaches - exploring the river estuaries of the Quirimbas, of which the beautiful mangrove kingfisher is a highlight. The riparian forest is a great habitat for black-bellied starlings and other birds. The mangrove forest provides roosting spots with sightings of Dimorphic egret, great white egret, pink-backed pelican, yellow-billed stork, crab plovers and woolly-necked storks.

And a privately guided mobile safari into the wilds of Western Kenya for some of the best birding on the African continent.
