Discounted Gorilla tracking permits for Uganda

Visitors to Uganda can benefit from heavily discounted Gorilla tracking permits in a special Uganda Wildlife Authority promotion running until the end of November 2011.

Foreign tourists will pay a vastly reduced rate of $350, reduced from the normal $500 fee, for tracking certain Mountain Gorilla groups in their natural rainforest habitat in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The discount is only applicable to available permits for the Kahungye, Oruzogo, Mishaya and Mubare Gorilla groups booked for tracking before 30/11/11. Discounts also exist for the existing foreign resident and Ugandan citizen permit rates.

Kahungye and Oruzogo are newly habituated groups and Mishaya group is the Gorilla family that seceded from the existing Nshongi group last year when Silverbacks struggled for dominance. The group is led by Silverback Mishaya, who took 9 females with him from Nshongi group in July 2010, but has since been joined by more members from wild groups who are also now habituated and form part of one of the most viable Gorilla families available to track in Bwindi.

Those keen to make the most of this offer can enjoy a $400 discount per person on our Week on the Wild Side set departure tour, departing either 18 Nov or 25 Nov 2011, subject to permit availability and a 2 pax minimum.
