New Birding Record for Uganda

The Far Horizons is pleased to report that a rare bird has been spotted in Uganda for the first time, creating a new birding record for the country. The Grey Pratincole was recorded by Johnnie Kamugisha, who spotted it whilst on the boat cruise on Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The bird is a West African species and has only been spotted in East Africa once before, twenty years ago in Rusizi National Park in Burundi.

Uganda has over 1,000 different bird species and offers a huge variety for birders, thanks to the many different habitats and terrain throughout the country. For more information on specialist birding itineraries from The Far Horizons please contact Anne Els at info@thefarhorizons.com
