Uncharted Africa Safari co. launches Set Date Departure Itinerary Combining a Mobile Experience in the Okavango Delta with Permanent Camps in the Unique Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

Uncharted Africa Safari co. is launching new Set Date Departure Itineraries combining two of Botswana’s most iconic and unique environments, the Okavango Delta and the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans of the Kalahari Desert. These set date departures have been specially designed to make the experience of a luxurious mobile safari more accessible and easier for guests to experience.

The Set Date Departure Itinerary will be available during both the dry and wet seasons. Guests will begin by spending three nights in the Okavango Delta in the comfort of luxuriously appointed meru tents. From there, the next three nights are based at Camp Kalahari, one of Uncharted Africa Safari co.’s permanent oases situated on the edge of the otherworldly Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.

Botswana’s Okavango Delta is the world’s largest inland delta. The intricate maze of channels and lagoons is teeming with game and home to an unsurpassed wildlife diversity. This pristine wilderness is best experienced on the move, and the mobile expeditions allow Uncharted Africa Safari co.’s expert guides to set up base in the best possible locations for the optimal viewing experience. Exciting game drives are complemented by a one-of-a-kind boat ride through the waters of the Delta, where guests can not only see exotic birds overhead, but the aquatic life all around, including crocodiles and hippopotamus. Guests will not have to compromise on comfort to be able to stay in this lush environment as each tent comes complete with Persian rugs underfoot, crisp cotton sheets, and en-suite bathrooms, while dining is a true affair with bone-handled silver and damask table linens.

A short flight away but a world apart, Camp Kalahari is a fun and adventurous, yet comfortable and stylish oasis, nestled amongst the acacias and palms in the bare Kalahari Desert. Camp Kalahari is luxurious yet simple and unfettered, with ten spacious tents. The traditionally built thatch roofed communal library, living, and dining area provides the perfect place to relax after safari, while the inviting swimming pool is ideal for an afternoon escape. From the comfort of their base at the camp, guests will have the chance to see the unique desert species of the area, including the elusive brown hyena, interact with friendly and inquisitive meerkats, and learn from the Bushmen, whose fascinating culture dates back tens of thousands of years.

The Set Date Departure Itineraries include all internal flights, accommodations, food and drink, laundry, expert guiding and activities. The expeditions are available from a minimum of two and maximum of 12 guests. For all departures in 2012, the cost is $4,009 per person, sharing.
