African Bush Camps - Taking steps towards 'Greener' Camps
By African Bush CampsIn an effort to help save the environment, African Bush Camps has introduced a personal gift for each of their guests labelled ‘The Safari Companion’. In a campaign to stop the use of environmentally unfriendly materials, African Bush Camps will provide every guest with a stainless steel drinking water bottle to be refilled with pure filtered water which has undergone a tripple water filtration system. The campaign aims to minimise the use of toxic plastic bottles which damage the environment.
According to a report released in 2001 by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), roughly 1.5 million tons of plastic are expended in the bottling of 89 billion liters of water each year. Besides the sheer number of plastic bottles produced for bottled water distribution each year, the energy required to manufacture and transport these bottles to market, severely drains limited fossil fuels. Bottled water companies as a result are presenting a significant strain on the environment.
In addition to the above, African Bush Camps is currently in the process of converting all their camps to utilising solar heating and lighting systems.
African Bush Camps in collaboration with The African Bush Camps Foundation is committed to operating in a sustainable manner and ensuring that they preserve the environment, culture and conservation of the areas in which they operate.
