Three Cities Adds Upton Hall to their Collection
Three Cities Exceptional Hotels has added Durban’s exclusive Upton Hall Boutique Guest House to its Exceptional Collection of hotels.
Reserved for five-star and award winning establishments with distinctive characteristics that set them apart from their more run-of-the-mill counterparts, the Three Cities Exceptional Hotels Collection focuses on the extra ordinary.
In Upton Hall’s case, this is a mix of olde worlde sophistication and modern day Afro-chic. One of the city’s premier 1930's-style mansions, it was transformed into a boutique guest house that combines distinctive features such as a magnificent chandelier, grand staircase and a cigar lounge with modern day essentials such as electronic access and state-of-the art security.
Additional features include individually furnished suites, a gym complete with change rooms and a steam room as well as the option of a personal trainer and a well-equipped boardroom for business travellers.
According to Three Cities’ chief executive, Mike Lambert, strict selection criteria are applied when selecting hotels that are included in the Exceptional Collection. These apply not just to décor and design, but also to hospitality industry staples such as service.
He said that in tough economic times, it made sense for exclusive operations such as Upton Hall to conclude management agreements with trusted brands such as Three Cities as there were a great deal of synergies that could be realised. Three Cities took care of practicalities such as reservations and marketing, while owners focused on the finer details.
Lambert explained that 24 years of hospitality management and marketing expertise, a seamless booking and reservation system, a dedicated call centre and extensive national and international marketing were just some of the benefits for those who were aligned with the Three Cities Group.
“Three Cities’ extensive investment in a digital reservation platform encompassing real time connection to each resort’s reservation system, a dedicated call centre, online booking engine as well as direct links into several online travel agencies and other API and GDS channels would ordinarily be out of the reach of smaller, exclusive operations”, he said.
