Livingstone Safaris and ITG (International Travel Group): The End of an Era
By Livingstone SafarisAfter 15 years of working together, boutique inbound tour operator to Africa, Livingstone Safaris ends their business association with long haul Dutch specialist brand, Miles Travel (International Travel Group).
The Past
Almost two decades ago, Mr Harco van Uden was handpicked to oversee the launch of Miles Travel, a new Dutch outbound travel brand specializing in highly personalised tailor-made trips to Southern Africa. Harco was soon recognized as a force majeure in his market. His hands on approach and business savvy grew the company successfully over many years. In the early days of trade, Harco was introduced to Mrs Sussi Galley, Managing Director of Livingstone Safaris. Livingstone Safaris soon became Miles Travel’s exclusive ground handler. Their combined efforts have consistently served up memorable holiday experiences to the Dutch traveller and have succeeded in securing a large repeat client base for Miles Travel.
The Present
Sussi and Harco’s respective companies have, over the years, developed in mutually independent ways. With respect to the current business landscape and the future plans for their respective companies, they have amicably agreed to end their client agreement. This decision has not been taken lightly by either party. Livingstone Safaris has a reputation for maintaining excellent relationships through unfailing loyalty to its industry partners and clients. Pursuant to this, the changeover will be done with the very least impact on Miles Travel’s clients. The purpose of this press release is to inform our valued industry partners of this important business development so as to avoid any confusion in the marketplace. No current bookings will be affected by this imminent change. Until the 31st October 2013, Livingstone Safaris will continue to handle new quotes and bookings from Miles Travel for travel in 2013 and beyond.
The Future
Effective 1 November 2013, any provisional and confirmed bookings will be handed over to Livingstone Safaris’ successor as chosen by Harco. Sussi says, “I wish to thank Harco and his passionate team at ITG for many years of inspiration. My team and I wish Harco and his team the very best success in their new venture with IOT (Institute of Travel) and with the future of ITG Companies.”
