Asilia Africa appoints Dave van Smeerdijk as Director of Marketing and Sales
It is with great pleasure that Asilia Africa announces the addition of Dave van Smeerdijk to our team as Director of Marketing and Sales.
Dave brings with him 25 years of safari industry experience, of which 21 years was with Wilderness Safaris. He has in-depth experience in all aspects of the industry, having worked across the business in everything from guiding, operations, to Director of Group Sales and Marketing.
Dave says ‘’I am excited to contribute to this dynamic, growing company. I look forward to adding value in the commercial sense, but also to being part of the solution of protecting the wild areas of Africa. East Africa is home to some of the largest populations of Africa’s iconic wildlife that need to be safeguarded. I strongly believe that tourism, when practiced in a responsible and sustainable way, can be the key driving force in protecting eco-systems, or in some cases, restoring them.’’
Bas Hochstenbach, co -founder and Commercial director of Asilia adds, ‘’we are delighted to have Dave as part of Asilia Africa. He’s a great fit with our team, and I am confident that his rich experience will enhance our business. Asilia is planning to grow significantly, with three new camps this year alone, to realize our ambition to help protect large stretches of crucial nature and wildlife areas. We are excited that Dave will be part of this development’’.
Dave will lead Asilia’s marketing and sales team in further developing our trade relationships.
