Village & Life bids farewell to SAF3 crew
The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay has on Tuesday, 21 January 2014 hosted an informal screening of the new international television series, SAF3, as a final farewell to the cast and crew who made Cape Town their home during the filming of the series.
Industry professionals and personnel of Village & Life who attended the screening were entertained by the showcasing of a special compilation video featuring scenes of prominent Cape Town destinations and popular tourist landmarks which can be seen throughout the 20 episode series.
SAF3, produced by acclaimed Hollywood director and creator of Baywatch, Gregory J Bonann, is one of the biggest international TV series ever filmed in South Africa and stars Hollywood actors Dolph Lundgren, All My Children actor JR Martinez and The Bold and The Beautiful’s Texas Battle.
This action-packed one hour drama about an elite division of the Malibu Fire Department that encompasses in sea, air and fire rescue operations, created over 200 jobs for South Africans and stars local talent Kim Engelbrecht and Karl Thaning. According to Bonann the team chose Camps Bay because of the gorgeous scenery and close resemblance to Malibu Beach. “You can put a camera on a tripod, point it in any direction and get a shot of amazing scenery,” were the words with which Bonann described Camps Bay.
Bonann thanked the Camps Bay Ratepayers and Resident Association, Camps Bay Business Forum and the Cape Film Commission who made the shoot possible. The series premiered in September 2013 in the USA and is expected to air on local South African TV channel ETV.
