Airlink Skukuza services commence operation

On Monday 02 June 2014, Airlink’s scheduled flights between Johannesburg and Skukuza, and Cape Town and Skukuza commenced operating.

The return of scheduled air services to Skukuza airport is momentous in the context of South African tourism as this now allows all tourism stakeholders and tourists the ability to gain direct access to a variety of important and recognised wildlife destinations within the Kruger Park and nearby Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, and offers a far more integrated and effective product to the global market. Furthermore, seamless integration of the Skukuza wildlife product with other SA National Parks’ (SANParks) products, as well as with other neighbouring regional wildlife areas and natural attractions will permit Skukuza to serve as a hub and gateway to a unique portfolio of tourism “Eco Leisure” properties.

The new Skukuza Airport terminal building, which has turned out to be an iconic architectural masterpiece, epitomises the relaxation imbued by an exclusive Game Lodge whilst offering operational efficiency. The new building has certainly lived up to its expected “Wow” status.
