Robin Pope Safaris suspends construction of camp in Liwonde National Park, MalawiBy Robin Pope Safaris
At the end of 2011 Robin Pope Safaris was awarded a concession in Liwonde National Park, Malawi to develop a new camp. Before we started developing the concession it became very clear to us that the site in its current state would not be suitable for our market. We discussed this with Malawi Government and reached an agreement of what was required. Based on this understanding and trust we continued to invest in this concession.
Recently it has however come to light that the Malawian Government cannot commit to this agreement anymore. Construction of the camp in the current state of the concession means the camp will be sub-standard. Since
Robin Pope Safaris does not operate sub-standard camps, we unfortunately see no other option but to stop investing in this concession and for now we will not open Miyala camp as originally planned.
It has been a very difficult decision to make as we had invested numerous resources into the project. We do sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to our valued guests who had already booked and those who were looking forward to joining us there.
Robin Pope Safaris continues to look out for suitable opportunities to enhance guest experiences with us.
We thank you for your continued support and your understanding.
