Ellerman House Welcomes New General Manager

April 2017, Ellerman House–Ellerman House is delighted to announce that Paul Bruce-Brand has been appointed as Ellerman House’s new General Manager. Paul will be taking over from Ella Cuyler from the 1st of May and is set to continue the enduring success of Ellerman House.

Paul Harris, Owner of Ellerman House says, “We went through an extensive process to find the right person to take the hotel to even greater heights. Ella has polished the jewel during her five-year tenure as General Manager, leaving a string of prestigious awards in her wake; she will be departing on an absolute high and we wish her well with her future endeavours.”

Paul Bruce-Brand, who describes himself as proudly South African, should prove to be a great fit for Ellerman House, which strives to be an iconic destination, showcasing the very best that South Africa has to offer. "It is an incredible honour for me to accept this position at a property that embodies the beauty and spirit of South Africa. For me, it is critical to create an experience that guests will carry in their hearts forever. Whether foreign or local, it is important that guests leave with a stronger love for this great country and the desire to return again and again. I see this as a team effort where every single member of staff is given the scope to reach his or her full potential. I am hugely excited to be joining the Ellerman House family."

Paul Bruce-Brand is passionate about hospitality and enhancing the guest experience at Ellerman House. At the same time, he comes from a strong Human Resources background and is equally focused on the staff. Prior to his 6 years at Seasons in Africa where he managed the Hollow on the Square Hotel and the Cape Town Hollow, Paul was an HR Manager at Sun International and an HR Practitioner at Anglo American. Paul is enthusiastic about building a unified team of motivated people working together to create an unforgettable and unmatched experience for guests.

This year marks the year that Ellerman House turns 25. It is a year dedicated to looking back at the hotel’s development and all that it has achieved as well as looking ahead to the future. In its 25 years of operation, the hotel’s reputation for service excellence has had a lot to do with the personality, experience and professionalism of its staff. Paul Harris says he is “confident that with the team we have and Paul’s leadership, we will be able to reach even greater heights”.

With exciting new developments in 2017, Ellerman House is set to enter its next quarter century with renewed energy, while retaining its world-class reputation for delivering the best of South Africa to both its loyal repeat guests and first-time guests.
