The orphaned Rhinos at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC)

It is with mixed feelings that we report that HESC accepted another two baby orphaned rhinos over the last month. The first newcomer, a young rhino bull, arrived on Wednesday 13th April. A field guide on a neighbouring property noticed that the approximately 2 week’s old calf was being rejected by his mother.  The young bull had no chance of survival without intervention, and was brought in to HESC for immediate and urgent care. He was named Nhlanhla, which means ‘luck’ …
