Staff Accommodation Damaged by Fire at Lion Camp, Zambia

Late afternoon on Wednesday 5th September, we had an unfortunate incident at the Lion Camp staff compound. A fire broke out and caused damage to the junior staff accommodation. We were fortunate to contain the fire to that specific area without any threat to the rest of the staff accommodation, guest rooms, and public areas.

We have accounted for each person that was on site last night and, and our entire team is safe and unharmed.

Our in-house guests have continued enjoying their spectacular Lion Camp experience without any interruption to their stay at all.  We will continue receiving our guests as per normal and ensure that they continue having the best experience in South Luangwa,

We will today commence with temporary staff accommodation to ensure that our staff is accommodated and comfortable while on duty. Mantis Collection is assisting the team on the ground with necessary logistical support so that there is continuity with little disruption to daily operations.

We commend every staff member who worked through the night to look after guests but also ensure that the fire was contained and no threat to the lodge. We thank Kaingo Camp, Mwamba Bush Camp and our onsite film crew Plimsoll for their assistance with firefighting duties.

Out of the ashes will rise a new staff compound with even better facilities for everyone who works for Lion Camp and takes care of our guests on a daily basis.
