Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge hosts Born Free Foundation's Artist in Residence
By Sharon Kibwage, Serena HotelsSerena Hotels and Born Free are delighted to be working together again – this time hosting award-winning writer and illustrator Ed Vere at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge for a couple of weeks. Ed will be hosting two watercolour workshops for guests this week, sharing his expertise on ‘How to paint an elephant’. Ed will showcase some sketch work from his time in Amboseli so far as well as demonstrate how he draws and paints in the wild (check out this great video for a sneaky peek). Aspiring artists at the lodge will enjoy his guidance on their own watercolour painting techniques.
Ed is currently spending some time in Kenya as Born Free’s official artist in residence and will be producing a special painted and written travelogue to commemorate Born Free’s 35th anniversary.
Ed’s books have been published around the world in over 20 languages. How to be a Lion was nominated for both The Greenaway Medal and The Carnegie Medal – almost unprecedented for a picture book.
See more of Ed’s work on his website www.edvere.com and follow his progress, news and sketches on twitter or Instagram on @ed_vere
