Pangolin endorses the global conservation declaration to #EndTheTrade of wild animals.
By *Toby Jermyn, Pangolin Photo SafarisPangolin.Africa, the conservation non-profit organisation funded by contributions made by guests of Pangolin Photo Safaris, has formally endorsed the #EndTheTrade Coalition and campaign launched this week by Global Wildlife Conservation, Wildlife Conservation Society and WildAid.
The Coalition aims to permanently end the commercial trade and sale in markets of wild terrestrial animals for consumption, worldwide. They will be implementing a joint strategy focused on reducing consumer demand, closing commercial supply chains and actively monitoring for pathogens through increased health surveillance. The strategy is being actively supported by a global movement, driven by the Coalition’s #EndTheTrade campaign which calls on our world’s governments to end wildlife trade.
Pangolin.Africa joins a number of other key international conservation organisations – as well as health professionals, celebrities and others – in endorsing the Coalition and signing their campaign petition.
Says director of Pangolin.Africa Toby Jermyn: “As an organisation dedicated to the survival of the most traded wildlife species on earth, we welcome this global initiative. There has never been a more relevant time for humankind to take action for the protection of our wildlife and for our future. The wildlife trade has driven many species to extinction and is now also responsible for bringing the planet to its knees. Only through taking a united, global stand against these inhumane practices can we ensure that a pandemic on the scale of COVID-19 is never allowed to happen again.”
Pangolin.Africa strongly urges other organisations and individuals to take decisive action for our wildlife and our planet, by joining them in supporting this important global movement and signing the petition at https://endthetrade.com/.
