At Robin Pope Safaris we have one goal: to give our guests an unforgettable safari holiday to tick off their bucket list. To experience the wonders of Africa's secluded wilderness, rich culture, beautiful beaches and - our primary focus - the outstanding wildlife, including leopard, lion, elephant, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, wild dog, hippo, to name a few; more than 450 species of birds and an amazing array of tropical fish found only in Lake Malawi.

Founded in 1985, this family run business offers a comprehensive range of locations in Zambia (The Victoria Falls and South Luangwa National Park), Malawi (Lake Malawi and Majete National Park) and we have recently branched out into Zimbabwe with the newly taken over John’s Camp. Our exquisite bush venues offer rustic luxury, each small and intimate ensuring an exclusive and personal guest experience.

We also have partners in Liuwa Plains, the Lower Zambezi, Kafue and North Luangwa National Parks in Zambia and the best of Malawi. To explore all these areas we have created some amazing itineraries for you as well as set departure dates for special interest and mobile walking safaris.

Good news for the painted wolves of the Luangwa Valley (Robin Pope Safaris)

Recent wild dog conservation success in the Luangwa Valley has it estimated to now have the largest population of wild dogs in the whole of Zambia. Despite being one of Africa’s most endangered carnivores, wild dogs (also fondly known as the painted wolf) in and around the South Luangwa National Park have enjoyed several years of increasing numbers, and there are now estimated to be approximately 350 adults and yearlings living in the Luangwa Valley.

Introducing Kuthengo Camp, Liwonde National Park!

We are delighted to share with you Kuthengo Camp, Liwonde National Park, Malawi – opening 27 April 2018. Location, location, location Liwonde National Park is situated in southern Malawi – southeast of Lilongwe. It runs alongside the Shire River and part of Lake Malombe. The area comprises riverine, grassland and Mopane Woodlands which offers amazing scenery and is home to elephant, buffalo, endangered black rhinos and various antelope species. Cheetah have also been recently reintroduced thanks to recent conservation efforts in the area. A birder’s paradise – with nearly 300 species, including the Böhm’s Bee-eater, Livingstone’s Flycatcher, Pel’s fishing owl and Lillian’s love bird.

Normally it takes a lot of dedication and a fair amount of luck to get a good bird sighting, especially if it’s a bird on your list. Rarely do these 2 factors arrive on a silver platter, but occasionally they do! Majete Lion Update

  The three Majete lions were released successfully on August 25th 2012. Against a backdrop of donors, reporters, photographers, staff and onlookers, Dr. Andre Uys and a small team prepared the tranquilisers to immobilise the lions. The operation went smoothly, the only hitch being that Chimwala (one of the male) managed to remove his dart and proceeded to eat it before it took effect. In August Majete Wildlife Reserve will become the proud recipient of four lions from South Africa, completing the return of the “Big Five” to this iconic reserve situated in Malawi’s lower Shire River valley.
