Our Commitment to Responsible Tourism
Eco tourism is the very backbone of The Safari Collection ethos, where conservation, community and tourism stand side by side. From our commitment to local community to the way we purchase our supplies, The Safari Collection takes into consideration its impact at all levels.
Our hands on conservation team is committed to protecting, maintaining and enhancing the incredible landscapes in which we work, in order to support the long term vision of The Safari Collection and to preserve the wilderness for future generations.
Tourism is responsible for 25% of the GDP in Kenya and the communities that live adjacent to The Safari Collection properties are almost entirely dependent on tourism for their income.
Most visitors that come to Kenya come to see the big cats.
The Safari Collection realise the significance of this, and so we are specifically focusing our conservation efforts on the big cats of Kenya, working to ensure the longevity of the tourism industry and in turn directly impacting on the sustainability of the communities with whom we work.
The Safari Collection is supporting conservation and community development through a few carefully chosen projects, all of which directly conserve the big cats and address the primary causes of their decline and meet the most important needs of the surrounding communities, gaining leverage and trust.
Please click here for more information on all the community and conservation projects that we are involved with.

The Safari Collection are thrilled to support an exciting new conservation project working to protect the highly threatened pangolin. These secretive and mysterious nocturnal creatures are covered head to toe in hard keratin scales and are one of the most trafficked mammals in the world. Their meat is eaten as a delicacy in China and Vietnam and their scales are misguidedly used in traditional medicine. Tragically, pangolins are utterly defenceless against the hands of their biggest predators: humans.Read More

The number of giraffes across the continent has fallen by 40% in the last three decades. In Westgate, the nearest dentist is located in Isiolo town, which is at least a two-hour drive away or more than a full days walk. The Samburu have poor access to clean water and they use a twig f…Read More
