ATTA appoints new Chairman Anita Powell

In accordance with ATTA’s constitution the Chairman’s term of office is two years.

Simon Wilson Stephens’ proactive term finishes after the ATTA AGM on Friday May 6th as he moves to Vice Chairman for one year

The new Chairman elected by the Board last week will be Anita Powell who has been a Director of ATTA for five years and in that time has gained an in depth knowledge of the workings of the association and the challenges that it faces daily.

Anita is Managing Director of Small World Marketing the representation company she founded five years ago. Her tourism experience and passion for Africa began in Kenya, working in luxury tented camps and lodges gaining an invaluable understanding of tourism on the ground. Her love affair with the continent continued when she undertook a role at Travel Africa magazine where she gained a valuable insight into the complexities of magazine publishing; from writing editorial features to developing subscription and product marketing strategies. In 2002 Anita joined Hills Balfour, a leading destination representation agency, to head up three of the agency's biggest accounts; Kenya Tourist Board, Seychelles Tourist Office and Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.

Anita has extensive knowledge of the travel industry, with key contacts at a senior level in both the media and trade, built up over 14 years in the industry. Anita’s role as Chairman will be to increase the visibility & communication between ATTA, who are completing a rebranded process, and its members and also strengthen the relationship between ATTA and the media.
