Flydubai Adds Three More Routes To East Africa

Dubai-based airline flydubai announced that it will begin services to three new destinations in East Africa from September. The budget airline, which currently flies to nine destinations in Africa, said that it will begin services to Bujumbura in Burundi, Entebbe in Uganda and Kigali in Rwanda. Botswana to launch tourist train

Botswana Railways has announced plans to introduce a tourist train to offer both local and international tourists an opportunity to explore Botswana and the neighbouring countries. Authorities have asked airlines landing or transiting through any of the five East African Community (EAC) member states to introduce special surveillance forms for tracking down Ebola suspects. Egyptair to stop Harare flights

Egyptian airline, Egyptair, has decided to roll back its Zimbabwean operation from next month. The flag carrier of Egypt, which returned to the Zimbabwean skies last year after a nine-year breather, informed the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) and other relevant stakeholders last month of its decision to stop four weekly flights to Harare. The Botswana and Zambian Ministries of Health have announced new measures to prevent the spread of Ebola. Kenya scraps visas for SA travellers – for now

The Kenyan High Commission announced yesterday that it had suspended visa requirements for South African nationals. This means that South Africans visiting Kenya for 30 days or less will not require a visa from September 1 onwards.   However, the Deputy High Commissioner for Kenya in South Africa, Helen Gichuhi, has warned the suspension of the visas could just be a temporary reprieve. Travel and tourism to contribute 5.8% to Swaziland's GDP

In the year 2022, the country’s travel and tourism sector is envisaged to contribute about 5.8% to the gross domestic product (GDP). WTTC noted that the total contribution of the travel and tourism sector in Swaziland was 4% of GDP in 2011.
