Kenya Tourism Board renews marketing drive in Italy
Kenya Tourism Board has trained seventy travel agents to market the country in Italy as part of ongoing tourism recovery efforts.
Speaking at the just ended TTG Incontri 2015 tourism fair, KTB Director of Marketing Jacinta Nzioka said there is renewed interest in Kenya as a destination among Italians. She added that KTB had embarked on a concerted marketing drive targeting Italy, geared to proactively addressing the needs of that specific market.
“It is important for us to remind Italy that Kenya cares about this market. The Italian tour operators are extremely committed to the destination,” said Nzioka.
The training included sensitization on e-visa processing and various unique attraction of Kenya as a travel destination. KTB also briefed the operators on the ‘Make It Kenya’ campaign launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Milan Expo last month.
The TTG Incontri is the biggest Business-to-Business (B2B) event in Italian tourism market. Secretary of State to the Italian Culture and Tourism Ministry Mrs Francesca Barracciu, who opened the fair, met the Kenyan delegation.
Kenya Airways, Narok and Kilifi counties, as well as several local hoteliers and tour operators participated in the fair which attracted over 60,000 participants.
