Cable cars to boost tourism in Mount Kenya
As a means to boost its tourism sector, the Kirinyaga County Government is headed towards installing Cable Cars on Mt Kenya. This will mean that tourists who only know Switzerland as the only famous destination for this kind of a facility can now have an alternative to sample from. The project has been packaged as an investment opportunity while the county is seeking for investors to partner with.
Governor Joseph Ndathi says potential investors have already expressed their interests towards the venture. "We have taken one such interested investor to this natural site alongside his consultant who will carry out the feasibility studies and revert back to us," Ndathi said. He said should the venture materialise, then the county would be headed in the same league with Switzerland in terms of car cable tourism. ''Tourist will be able to view wild animals aboard these cars while above them and this will certainly give us an upper hand in the sector as compared to other countries which apart from snow on their mountains have no wild game," he said. Ndathi said the rich Mt Kenya forest endowed with flora and fauna will provide such a wide range of natural varieties to the tourists.
