Tourism Management Symposium to be held in September
The University of Pretoria (UP), the Dean of Economic and Management Sciences and the Division of Tourism Management will host a morning of high-level presentations, panel discussions and robust debate on South Africa’s accessibility as a tourist destination at the Tourism Management Symposium in September.
Presenters and panellists include Minister of Tourism, Derek Hanekom, and Prof Dimitrios Buhalis, from Bournemouth University in the UK (one of the world’s leading academics on tourism), as well as leaders in government and industry.
Buhalis will introduce the issue of ‘Universal Accessibility’. The accessibility of the Southern African region as a local and international tourist destination will be presented by Prof Karen Harris, Department of Cultural and Heritage Tourism, UP, in the discussion titled ‘Regional accessibility’. Prof Berendien Lubbe, Division Tourism Management, UP, will highlight issues on air and transport accessibility. In addition, industry leaders from various sectors will be represented on the panel ‘Entry accessibility’.
The Tourism Management Symposium will take place on September 9 from 09h00-14h00 at the Auditorium, Merensky 2 Library, Hatfield Campus, University of Pretoria.
