New Chapter of YOUNG TRAVEL PROFESSIONALS launches in Cape Town, South Africa
Young Travel Professionals (YTP), the first networking group specifically created for the next generation of travel industry leaders, expands its global following with a new Cape Town Chapter (YTP-CPT).
As the most popular tourist destination in South Africa, the Cape Town chapter will further YTP’s goal of fostering the growth and advancement of young people in travel. Known to many as the Mother City, Cape Town’s focus on innovation and unique experiences make it the perfect place for young travel professionals to connect and engage.
This is Young Travel Professionals’ 17th chapter. From the organization’s 2011 inauguration in New York City, YTP now has representation in 17 cities around the world. More information about all of the chapters is available HERE.
The Cape Town chapter provides a gateway for global collaboration with African travel experts and insight into a vast continent that is as diverse as it is majestic. In a world where economic, political and technological forces are constantly changing and challenging current trends, Africa provides the traveller with a unique chance for adventure as well as the chance to disconnect and unwind within the space and sanctuary provided by Mother Nature herself.
The YTP-CPT leadership board is comprised of an energetic & enthusiastic group of professionals from different African backgrounds. Headed up by Lauren Mallett, who oversees the International Sales & Marketing for Royal Zambezi Lodge in Zambia and is originally from Zimbabwe, this Chapter will be the first of many chapters to come in Southern Africa with Lauren working alongside YTP Global to launch further chapters. An equally passionate committee with extensive experience and knowledge in Africa and travel joins Lauren to drive YTP-CPT forward. Further details about the colourful team behind the first African Chapter are available HERE.
“Having attended a YTP event in London and knowing some of the YTP board members in different cities, it has always been a vision of mine to bring YTP to Africa. For a continent that is so largely misunderstood but has so much to give, we are looking forward to offering a collaborative platform for young travel professionals around the globe to engage with passionate African experts, giving them an the opportunity to grow and learn from one another and together help make Africa a more accessible destination through collaboration and education” said Lauren Mallett, Management YTP-CPT.
To start, the YTP-CPT Chapter will be hosting quarterly networking events at fun and relaxed venues across the city; provide an online community to foster communication and collaboration, and offer a thorough Mentor Program. This program, through an application process, pairs interested members with respected individuals from all sectors of the industry. It is a six-month commitment between both parties, as they share experiences, knowledge and resources.
Opportunities continue with a “Classifieds” section on YTP’s website and announcements via YTP’s social media platforms: LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. Job seekers quickly connect, resulting in success stories and blossoming careers.
Young Travel Professionals comprises the travel and hospitality industry’s future generation. Membership remains free of charge and young professionals from all sectors of the hospitality and travel industry are invited to join.
