Drive-in cinemas make a comeback in SABy ATTA®
A drive-in cinema is a classic form of entertainment and one which is making a comeback. In a post-lockdown world, we are all going to be hyper-conscious of the places we go and the hygiene measures taken to ensure their cleanliness.
Many may feel that adventuring into a crowded room, surrounded by strangers and breathing in the same air for an extended period of time may not be for them right away. This is why the classic drive-in cinema will be the perfect place to catch the latest flicks.
Drive-in SA were hosting drive-in cinema nights at a number of venues in the City of Gold. Since lockdown, like most businesses, operations were temporarily suspended. As the lockdown restrictions begin to ease, the drive-in experience could soon become a reality once again. In a post on Facebook, the company said:’ We keep following up with JOC (Joint Operations Committee) for events ie permits and we need SAPS to sign off a Risk Categorization for us. We submitted again today [3 June] with a case study, so we will keep you posted!’
The Mother City Drive-In will get you out of the house to watch your favourite film very soon. In a Facebook post, the company said: ‘Mother City Drive-in is a Covid-19/social distancing friendly series of events planned to take place as soon as lockdown levels decrease & certain regulations/restrictions ease further.
‘Mother City Drive-in is not focused solely on showing films, we are also offering a platform for comedians, musicians & entertainers to get back to work after an extensive lockdown period with zero income. Food, snacks and beverage will be on offer and served to you by our friendly staff, adhering to strict safety protocols.’
Tickets are available for purchase through Webtickets but a date is yet to be set for the first event.
