What is the Purpose of the Role?
The Group Business Development & Reservations Manager is a key part of the Green Safaris Management team, setting strategies to grow the business through effective pricing, excellent enquiry conversion and proactive selling. You will operate in both B2B and B2C channels, maintaining the relationship with the business’ biggest customers and managing their experience of buying services from us. The role will seek to maximize revenue through designing a strategy that balance market share, average rate and occupancy without resorting to active wholescale yield management.
The senior manager will also mentor, develop and manage the Reservations Officers to ensure the effective distribution, training and competence of the team. The role is responsible for ensuring the property management and other systems of work used by the Reservations Officers are fit for purpose.

This position is reports to the Group Managing Director.
What would I be doing?
The role has a leaning to the strategic more than the operational but given the small team size you will find yourself filling in operationally as your team needs require. We operate in 5 countries around the world, so there is no fixed office you need to travel to. We find in this industry there is no normal day, every day has curve balls and that’s what makes it so interesting! The below activities give you a broad picture of what the role does within the Company
- Fielding answers to complicated enquiries that your team need guidance on
- Extracting performance data from the property management system to identify trends or actions required
- Setting up, preparing for and attending sales meetings with key buyers
- Field & desk research on other properties in the sector
- Preparing special offers, next year’s rates and sales materials
- Liaison with General Managers at the properties regarding information flow
- Updating forecasts and authoring the monthly management report
- Preparing, travelling to, attending and following up trade shows
- Documenting upgrades or system changes to the property management system
- Recruitment and line management of reservations office team members
What experience do I need?
You will currently be working in reservations or in tourism sales or representation management. Your success in your current role means you now have the experience and confidence to take on a more strategic role outside of the transactional responsibility of handling reservations. The successful applicant will have previous experience in the Sub Saharan Safari industry as well as having a great reputation from at least 3 years in a reservations role. If you have been involved in overseeing a property management system, setting rates and attending meetings with key trade operators then this is all very useful. Experience in managing and leading a team who are geographically spread out would be an asset. Strong data and excel skills are a must, as is the ability to interpret management information, be personable, reliable, inspirational, driven and enthusiastic by nature.

Basic Salary: $28,000 - $48,000 pa with a competitive bonus structure
